The Department of Economics is excited to announce that applications for the 2027 Honours and Master's programmes in Economics are now open.
Honours programmes offered
The Honours programme in Economics is a rigorous one-year programme that is taught face-to-face in English. Further details about the admission requirements, the structure of the programme and the modules that are offered can be found here.
The Department of Economics, in partnership with the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, also offers a one-year Honours programme in Economics and Mathematical Statistics, which prepares students for advanced econometric modelling and competencies in data science. This programme is also taught face-to-face in English. Further information about this programme can be found here.
Master's programmes offered
The department offers an MCom (Economics) course work (lecture) programme (with course work and a minor dissertation), an MCom (Economics): Focal area: Financial Economics programme (with course work and a minor dissertation that specialises in Financial Economics) and an MCom (Economics) full thesis programme (with no course work).
We strongly encourage students to apply for one of the course work Master's programmes (that includes course work and a minor dissertation). This programme is a one-year programme that is taught face-to-face in English. The programme covers the fields of economic theory and policy on an advanced level. Special attention is also given to the development of writing skills, quantitative econometric skills and the preparation of research reports.
