Post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Economics – one-year appointment with possible extension to 2 years
Scope of Research:
Research on labour markets and education in Southern Africa. Analysis of household data sets and educational evaluation data such as SACMEQ, PIRLS or TIMSS, with a particular focus on labour market outcomes and how these are influenced by education level and quality.
Host: Prof Servaas van der Berg, Research on Socioeconomic Policy (Resep), Dept. of Economics, Stellenbosch University
Requirement: PhD (must have graduated within the last five years) in an appropriate field, with a strong emphasis on micro-econometric analysis of survey data sets. Previous experience working on Southern African data sets would be a strong recommendation.
Commencement of duties: As soon as possible

Quantitative analysis of education in South Africa and southern Africa. Analysis of education data sets, particularly international educational evaluations (SACMEQ, TIMSS, PIRLS, PISA-D). The focus will be on social gradients and resilience, closely linked to current research undertaken by Resep.

Requirement: PhD (must have graduated within the last five years) in the Economics of Education or a related field, with research experience in the Economics of Education.
