Posted by Johan Fourie on 2008-10-15

Donnavan-John Linley, an honours student in Economics, was one of three recipients of the Stellenbosch University rector's Succeeding Against the Odds-Award. The Rector’s Award for Succeeding Against the Odds is awarded to students whose performance is outstanding relative to the context within which their academic career has developed.

The awards recognise the role that challenges such as disability, poverty and limited opportunities played in their achievements. Students who meet these criteria were invited to apply for the award via the media and notices on campus. The applications tell the inspiring stories of people who, despite difficult circumstances, persisted to succeed with great determination.
